Metro pro league week 18 fixtures will also mark the end of the inaugural season of this Private initiative.

The League Kicked off on Wednesday the 19th of February 2014 at Agege Stadium, Agege, Lagos with a match between Bridge FC and 36 Lion FC both of Lagos amidst some fanfare.

Week in Week out as seen the above named teams alongside teams like Union Bank, Remo Stars of Shagamu, Yobo FC, Collin Edwin Sports Club, Apapa Golden Stars, Nath Boys FC, AS Racine FC and Bolowotan FC, all battle it out for who would carry the crown.

Speaking to Pressmen before the kick off of the Tournament in february Chief Executive Officer of Metro Pro League Victor Akinyooye said “The idea of Metro Pro League is to administer football in Lagos state by international standards as it is being done in developed nations.

“Ten privately owned -clubs have come together to establish the Metro Pro League, matches will be played in four venues across Lagos State He said.

And this has been the case, but there is always room for improvement.

speaking to our reporter via telephone General Manager AS Racine Mr Mojeed Adegbidin said “We must state that its been an interesting first season and we already looking forward to the next season.

Also Lending his voice to this project is Keye Onadeko General Manager Union Bank FC, whose team has opened an unassailable 7 point lead and are actually “champions in waiting”

Onadeko said the Metro Pro League is a League that as come to stay, while also using the opportunity to call on Corporate bodies to come onboard Metro Pro League train as opportunities for Branding are abound.

Incidentally the last game of the Season will be Remo Stars FC v Union Bank FC at the Agege Stadium, Kick off time is 4 o’clock and presentation of trophies will take place immediately after.

Union Bank inches closer to Metro Pro League summit…As League Mgt. offers fans giveaways

Union Bank Football Club of Lagos are in pole position to take over the mantle of leadership of the Metro Pro League with an outright win over their Nath Boys counterparts in a Week 12 tie of the league.

The mouth-watering clash is billed to hold at the Onikan Stadium on Wednesday at 4pm. With an outright win over Nath Boys FC, the Bankers will go past Remo Stars who are currently topping the table with 20 points.

Expectedly, Nath Boys who were knocked out of the Lagos State FA Cup quarterfinal on Monday will also give the homers a run for their money in order to improve their current standing on the log. They are the highest scoring team in the league with 25 goals to their credit and have conceded 19 goals since the commencement of the Metro Pro League.

Top class performers, Apapa Golden Stars will slug it out with Yobo FC at Teslim Balogun Stadium, just as Remo Stars will also attempt to compound the woes of Collins Edwin Sports Club at the Agege Stadium on Thursday. Both games kick off at 4pm.

In Saturday’s early kick off games, AS Racine FC will have their hands full against Bridge Football Club at Agege Stadium while 36 Lion FC will try Bolowotan FC for size at the Onikan Stadium. Both games kick off at 9am.

Meanwhile, the Metro Pro League management has offered to reward the 500th ‘Like’ on the official Metro Pro League Facebook page and the 100th follower on the official Twitter handle @metroproleague with N1,500 worth of airtime each.

The League management led by Chief Executive Officer Victor Akinyooye, would like to thank everyone for the continued support and feedback from the social media. Metro Pro League Week 11:Bridge FC, Union Bank in battle for supremacy…Remo Stars, Yobo FC tie postponed

Bridge Football Club will battle another stiff challenger, Union Bank at the Agege Township Stadium, Agege, on Thursday as the Metro Pro League enters Week 11 of her inaugural season, The tie is Week 11’s star match.

The Bridge Boys currently occupies the third spot on the log with unassailable 17points, while the visiting Bankers are fourth with one point behind their opponents.

The clash promises to be a close contest as Bridge FC have so far won five games, drawn two and lost two, just as Union Bank FC has also picked five wins, drawn one and lost two.

In other fixtures billed for next week Monday, Bolowotan Football Club will entertain Collins Edwin Sports Club at the Strong Tower Pitch, Ikorodu, while Nath Boys FC will tackle 36 Lion at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.

Apapa Golden Stars attempt to reclaim the league summit when they clash against AS Racine at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Yobo FC will also try Collins Edwin Sports Club for size at the Agege Stadium. All matches will kick off at 4pm.

Meanwhile, the Metro Pro League management have postponed the Week 11 fixtures between Remo Stars and Yobo FC due to the formers involvement in the FA Cup.

Yobo FC, Collins Edwin Sports Club tie was also shifted due to Collins Edwin involvement in the FA Cup game on the same date.

Metro Pro League: Union Bank whitewashes Remo Stars…As Apapa Golden Stars reclaim top spot

Union Bank Football Club of Lagos puts Remo Stars title hopes asunder, as the Bankers dimmed the Stars by 4-0 at the Onikan Stadium.

Union Bank shot into the lead in the second minute of the 2nd half through Dimeji Hassan who cut through the Remo Stars defence to put his team ahead after the entire first half failed to produce any goal from either side.

The Kunle Soname’s boys returned with so much venom in the second half but their attacking forays were checkmated by the Bankers, just as they grabbed another goal when Remo’s goalie attempted a clearance which hit Union Bank’s Bobby Clement in the 75th minute of the tie.

Few minutes later, Union Bank made it three through an own goal, just as Mbonu slotted home the fourth and final goal of the match.
Union Bank with 16 points are now fourth on log while Remo Stars who are former league leaders have dropped to the second place.
Meanwhile.

Apapa Golden Stars defeated 36 Lion 3-1 to go top of the log with 17 points. Apapa has won five games, two draws and two loses.

In other games of Week 9, Bridge FC drew one-all with Bolowotan FC, Collins Edwin Sports Club also drew two-all with Nath Boys FC at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.

Meanwhile, Collins Edwin Sports Club and 36 Lion are rock-bottom at the mid-season stage of the Metro Pro League.

Metro Pro League campaigners, Bridge Football Club and Bolowotan will renew age-long rivalry as both sides square up in Week 9 tie at the Agege Stadium, on Wednesday.

The Oga Boys as Bolowotan is fondly referred to, are aiming to upset Bridge FC at the fortress and also continue with their winning streak after picking a vital win over Apapa Golden Stars in Ikorodu last week.

Similarly, Bridge FC are desperate to give their title quest a push after their 3-all draw against Nath Boys FC in Week 8 tie at the Legacy Pitch, Surulere.

While Bridge FC and Bolowotan do battle in Agege, 36 Lion Football Club will have their hands full as they play away to Apapa Golden Stars at the Onikan Stadium.

On Thursday, Union Bank FC will welcome current league leaders, Remo Stars FC to the Onikan Stadium, just as rock-bottom side, Collins Edwin Sports will play for pride against Nath Boys at Teslim Balogun Stadium.

…organises match commissioners seminar

Determined to improve the standard of the game, the Metro Pro League management yesterday (Tuesday) organised a seminar for the match commissioners at the Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos Island.

The training, according to a press statement by Metro Pro League, Media Officer, Bunmi Ogunyale was organized in conjunction with the Lagos State Football Association.

“The seminar is part of Metro Pro League mid-season review and continuous efforts to improve the standard of the league.
“So, a good number of match officials and instructors were on hand to deliver papers and also proffer solutions to problems that revolves around match officiating,” Ogunyale stated.

He pointed out that the seminar was put together for all current Match Commissioners and the incoming ones.
