Guinea Conakry ready to host CAVB Continental Cup Zone 2 Pool 3

CAVB Beach VB Continental Cup- Zone 2, Pool 3

African Volleyball Confederation “CAVB” Continental Cup Zone 2 Pool 3 Sub Zonal tournament will be held in Guinea Conakry March 29 to April 2, 2015.

The tournament features the participation of Guinea Conakry, Guinea Bissau, Sierra Leone and Mali fighting for two slots who will proceed to the second phase (Regional) of the Olympic Games qualifying competition.

Guinea’s tournament will be supervised by the technical supervisor Mr. Ahmed Khanou who will be assisted by Mr. Bah Oury. Both of them attended the last Technical Supervisors Seminar in Cairo 2 weeks ago.

On the other hand Mr. Mory KEITA, CAVB 1st Vice President and NF President appointed Mr. Hady GUISSE to follow up and facilitate all the preparations for the event.

The Continental Cup is considered the qualification competition for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games as the champions secure their tickets to the prestigious event while the second and third ranked teams will have another trial to access the Olympics through the World Cup.

12 Countries Confirmed Tickets For CAVB Continental Cup Second Phase

Twelve countries in both men and women genders have already confirmed their tickets to second phase of the CAVB Continental Cup after the end of 6 tournaments out of 12 in the Sub Zonal phase were over making 50% of the Olympic qualifying competition.

The champions of the second edition of the CAVB Continental Cup will earn a direct ticket to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, with another chance for the second and third teams to qualify to the prestigious event through the World Cup.

Now 12 teams in each gender confirmed their places at the second phase (Zonal) of the Continental Cup. In the Men’s competition Tunisia, Morocco (Pool 1), Senegal, Gambia (Pool 2), Burundi, Kenya (Pool 8), South Africa, Mozambique (Pool 10), Angola, Zimbabwe (Pool 11), Mauritius and Seychelles (Pool 12) confirmed their qualification.

In the women’s competition Morocco, Algeria (Pool 1), Gambia, Senegal (Pool 2), Kenya, Burundi (Pool 8), South Africa, Mozambique (Pool 10), Angola, Namibia (Pool 11), Mauritius and Seychelles (Pool 12) will continue their campaign to the zonal phase.

The CAVB Sub Zonal phase features 12 tournaments where the top two teams in each proceed to the second phase making a total of 24 teams which will be divided into 4 pools of 6 in the second phase.

CAVB Beach Volleyball 2015/2016 Competition Dates And Organizers Announced

The African Volleyball Confederation “CAVB” announced the full schedule for the Sub-Zonal phase of CAVB Continental Cup, the qualification competition for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.

The first phase of the Continental cup features 12 Groups with one pool for zones 1 and 7 and 2 pools for each of zones 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. The top two teams from each of the sub Zonal pools will proceed to the second phase (Zonal or Regional phase).

The Sub Zonal phase already started earlier in December 2014 with both Pools 10 and 11 in Mozambique and Namibia respectively.

Dates Confirmed For Beach VB Continental Cup And World Championships Qualifiers

CAVB Beach VB Commission confirmed the dates and hosts of the CAVB Continental Cup till the confirmation of the African representative for the coming 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, during its meeting in Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday.

CAVB President Dr Amr Elwani attended the meeting and urges the commission members to use their experience to help putting new strategies for the sport and give more proposals for the next Board of Administration.

“We are coming to a very busy Beach Volleyball season and we need the experience of each person here to widespread Beach Volleyball in the whole Africa using these events,” Elwani said.

CAVB Vice President and Beach commission supervisor Waithaka Kioni and the Beach VB Commission President Ayaovi Babanaw welcomed the commission members and started the meeting Agenda with confirmation the dates and hosts for the sub- zonal phase of the second edition of the CAVB Continental Cup. The sub- zonal phase will be completed by the end April. The second phase will be organised in October and November 2015, while the semifinal in March 2016 ahead of the finals June 2 to 6, 2016 to determine the African representatives at the 2016 Olympic Games in both genders.

The second edition of the competition attracted more than 40 NFs throughout 4 different rounds until producing the team which represent Africa in the Olympics.

The commission confirmed also the dates of the 2015 All Africa Games qualification to be held in each zone to determine 24 teams booking their tickets to the highest African Sport event due to be held in Congo Brazzaville in September 4 to 14, 2015.

The first ever African qualifications for the Senior FIVB Beach VB World Championships will be held 14 to 20 February, 2015 to determine 4 vacancies for Africa at the World Beach VB elite event.

The meeting was attended by CAVB President Dr Amr Elwani, CAVB Vice President Waithaka Kioni, CAVB Beach Commission President Ayaovi Babanaw and the commission members Musa Nimrod, Ali Yaro, Antonio Rodriguez, Ben Juma, Gershon Rorich, Augustine Agapa, Alexis Mbarga, Bah Oury and Fouad Abdelsalam.
