NFF summons Emergency Congress

The Nigeria Football Federation has summoned an emergency meeting of its General Assembly for Saturday, 5th July, 2014.

Chairman of Chairmen of Nigeria football, Chief Effiong Johnson said in Abuja on Friday evening that the meeting will start at 1pm at the Bolingo Hotel and Towers, Abuja.

All the Chairmen and Secretaries of the Football Associations of the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja are expected at the meeting.

Also expected are Representatives of the affiliate bodies such as the Leagues, Coaches Association, Referees Association and Players’ Union.

Flyover Collapses In World Cup City of Belo Horizonte

A “flyover” as collapsed about three miles from Mineirao stadium, which has hosted several World Cup matches in recent weeks.

According to a statement released by The city government two people have been confirmed dead while 19 people are injured.

However NO confirmation as been made as to the nationality of the Victims.

Meanwhile the Mayor of Belo Horizonte as declared 3 days of Mourning for the victims of this unfortunate incident.

The Mineirao stadium in Belo Horizonte is due to host one of the Semi-final games of the Mundial games Tuesday next week.

Brazil’s Preparations for the World Cup has been dogged by one controversy or the other especially with several reports of construction workers dying in different stadiums across brazil in months leading up to the World Cup.

last year’s dress rehearsal for the FIFA World Cup the “FIFA Confederations Cup” was also met with heavy riots by Brazilians who felt that the Government had misplaced its priorities by spending so much on hosting the World Cup.

This Sad event would definitely put a dampener on a tournament that as been widely acclaimed as the “Best World Cup ever” by pundits and football fans
