Sharks Gm, Apologize To Fans After Relegation

The Management and Players of Sharks FC have apologize to the government, fans and people of Rivers State over their inability to avoid the drop to the lower league.

The General Manager of the club, Okey kpaluku stated this shortly after his teams zero-one loss to Abia Warriors at the Umuahia Township stadium yesterday.

Kpaluku who was so optimistic of staying afloat the premier League next season described the loss in Umuahia and subsequent relegation as heart breaking.

“let me apologize to our fans and the government of Rivers State led by Barr. Nyesom Wike for failing to meet their expectations”.

“Am still trying to come to terms with our relegation to the NNL because we did not bargain for it as we did everything possible to stay afloat but our best was not good enough to keep us in the premier League “. kpaluku said

Captain of the side, Odinga Odinga commenting on his teams relegation, described it as one of the saddest moments of his career because it happened at a time when they thought the team was better positioned to escape the drop.

Odinga stressed that they have themselves to to blame for failing to make the avalanche of chances they had in the match against Abia Warriors yesterday.

“We came into the game with so much expectations, had the game going for us, threw away begging chances and we got nailed for it”.

“Am saddened by our relegation to the lower league, I just pray that our Governor who has done so much for us in such a short period will have a place in his heart to forgive us for disappointing him”. odinga said

Odinga also seized the opportunity to thank shirt sponsors, Eunisell for identifying with the team and apologize to the chemical solution company for letting them down,.

He appealed to the Rivers State government, fans and Eunisell to keep faith with the team for a quick return to the premier league

Rivers State Dep Gov Tele Ikuru Promises To Facilitate Sign On Fees of Sharks And Dolphins Players

A promise by the rivers state government that the unpaid sign on fees of players of the state owned teams will be ready in another two weeks laid to rest a threat by the players of Sharks fc and Dolphins fc not to honour their week 33 encounter in the Glo Nigeria premier league this Thursday.

The players had stormed the Rivers state government house this morning to protest the nonpayment of last season’s sign on fee despite appeals by the management of their teams to jettison the idea.

But a meeting with the deputy governor of Rivers state Engr.Tele Ikuru held at the rivers state government house ensured a change of heart by the players who have not only returned to training but have agreed to play their respective matches on Thursday.

Engineer Tele Ikuru assured the players that he will personally discuss the players demand with his Excellency as soon as he returns to the state so as to give it accelerated hearing.

“First and foremost am putting my integrity on the line, this is one thing I don’t like to do because if you deceive someone today what about another day, you will not have the guts to look at the person in the face another day”. Ikuru said

“So what I can promise you is that as soon as his Excellency returns the first matter I will take up with him is your matter” Ikuru told the players.

Ikuru emphasised to the players that his integrity is on the line following the promise he has made to them hence the assurance that in another fourteen days they will all have cause to smile to the bank.

“Be rest assured that haven’t discussed with you as soon as the governor I will ensure that something is done and what am saying before the next two weeks something will certainly be done”. He said
