Dolphins Okpokwu to use pace, strength against Sharks as media officer, China Acheru describes Sharks as noisy neighbours

Dolphins new boy, Ebube Okpokwu says he will score against Sharks on Saturday if called upon to play.

Okpokwu joined Dolphins from ElKanemi Warriors and has only had a cameo on match day one against Crown so far this season.

However he says he will take his time and not be in a hurry to play but will deliver goals if called upon to play against Sharks.

“I understand that the club already has strikers they have depended on in the past so I need to take my time, impress the coaches before I get a regular run in so I am not in a hurry.

“By the time I played against Crown it was late in the game so there was little I could do but if I get the chance against Sharks I am sure I will score,” Okpokwu said.

“I have qualities like strength, pace, goal scoring instincts and hold up play that will help my team achieve their targets for the season,” he said.

Okpokwu, being new in Port Harcourt has never played in a derby game but says he is excited at the prospect.

“Remember, Abia Warriors beat Enyimba last week in the derby? I think we will do the same in this one against Sharks,” he said.

We will fight against our noisy neighbours

Dolphins’ media officer, China Acheru has described Sharks as their noisy neighbours.

Dolphins will be away to Sharks in the League on Saturday and Acheru says Sharks have been all noise and no achievements since their formation as a football club.

“From 1972 to 2014 makes it 42 years and the only thing they have to show for all the money spent on them is a meaningless West Africa Football Union, WAFU trophy.

“We have been around since 1990 which makes it 24 years and we already have in our kitty three league titles, four FA Cups and some other honours they will only dream about, yet they act like they have achieved more than Al Ahly Nationale.

“It is not out of place to call them our noisy neighbours because that is what they are. We will also do our best to shut them up on Saturday but even if we don’t win that game we will justify ourselves by the end of the season.

“We have a much better team than last season and we hope the boys will play as well as they did in Owerri against Heartland or with the determination they showed against Sunshine Stars then Sharks will be in trouble,” Acheru said.

“We agree they have more fans than we do and playing at their Stadium will be more difficult but we have always been the better side.”

In the derby last season, both sides ended it 0-0 at the Sharks FC Stadium and Dolphins lost 2-1 at the Liberation Stadium, a loss that almost drove them down to the lower divisions.
