Level I Volleyball Coaches Course Opens In Casablanca

A Level I Coaches Course opened in the city of Casablanca from April 3 to 14, headed by two FIVB Instructors, Dr. Tahar Boukef from Tunisia and Mr. Michel Vandermeulen from Belgium.

The successful opening ceremony was attended by the officials of the Moroccan Volleyball Federation and the Ministry of Sports.

The stakeholders were pleased with the successful start of the 12-day coaches course and stressed that this kind of course is among their priorities for development of their coaches.

Last April 6, the participants showed their support for the International Day of Sports for Development and Peace by raising white cards. The awareness of the group is proof that the volleyball community recognises the role of sport in achieving sustainable progress and change.

VCP Young Volleyball Players Course held in Kinshasa

A VCP Young Players Course was held in Kinshasa from March 8-12 under the supervision of Belgian FIVB Instructor Mr Michel Vandermeulen. Twenty young players from clubs in the area of Kinshasa attended the seminar, which took place at the Saint-Raphaël stadium.

Mr Vandermeulen covered a variety of subjects during the course, putting a special emphasis on individual technique, team tactics, physical training and attitude. The modules completed reviewed the sport’s fundamentals, addressing any errors in the players’ technique. Modern training techniques were also examined, as well as attacking and defending strategies.

The course aimed to provide participants with the tools needed to progress on a technical and tactical level. This was backed up with the analysis of different types of phases in match play.

The course also aimed to nurture the participants’ passion for the sport by enabling them to practice it at a higher level. Future courses will help to build on what was achieved last week.

Rwanda hosting Volleyball Cooperation Programme for teachers

Rwanda is currently hosting a Volleyball Cooperation Programme in its capital Kigali, and the course opening was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Sport and the Rwandan Volleyball Federation.

The course runs from March 10 to 14 under the instruction of Michel Vandermeulen of Belgium.
The main aim of the VCP course is to show teachers how to adapt volleyball as an easy, fun and competitive sport in schools.

Physical Education Teachers are one of key target groups for the Volleyball Cooperation Programme to help them learn how they can integrate volleyball into their schools and motivate young volleyball players.

The aim of the five-day course is for teachers to learn the basic skills of teaching children the fundamentals of volleyball in a practical way, in addition to showing how to maximise school facilities for multiple courts and mass participation.
