FUNTURF MEDIA MACHINE 2014 GETS MORE COMPETITIVE AS TEAMS BATTLE FOR CRUCIAL POINTS

The On-going Funturf International 5-aside Media soccer tournament taking place at the funturf Lekki pitch entered day Two with more intensity and Dramma as teams battled each other to obtain hard fought results.

Two games were played out today in this Inaugural Edition of the tournament with all the teams geared up for League and points awarding format

AIM GROUP (COOL FM/ WAZOBIA) 1 – 0 VANGUARD NEWSPAPERS.

Pre-tournament favorites cool fm were the first to arrive the venue and walked into the pitch in a very different mood from the one they had yesterday.

This comes as no surprise considering their shock loss to ONTV in the opening game the previous day.

as a result of change of match fixtures…the C-WIN stars had to play Vanguard Newspapers team.
once again the game kicked of in a frenetic pace and aim group gradually took control of the game after matching the early enthusiasm and physicality of the boys from vanguard newspapers.

They got their goal (just about the same time they scored in the previous game against ONTV) in the 6th minute of the first half. the Goal was scored by attacking midfielder Wale who hit a shot that deflected off an opponent an roled into the net.

The Cool fm lads held onto this one goal advantage until the end of the first half. And it was the same lone goal that separated both sides at the end of the second half, although the outcome of the game could have been different but for the C-Wins Stars penchant for wasting glaring chances in front of goal.

C-WIN Stars have now picked up their first 3 points of the tournament.

VANGUARD NEWSPAPERS 1 – 1 CITY FM

Following the failure off TVC to show up for their game today against City Fm……they city Broadcasters were quickly rescheduled to play their second Game of the tournament against the freshly defeated Vanguard Newspapers.

The Apapa based vanguard boys voiced their initial fear of tiredness and lethargy but after a brief deliberation came back into the field determined to gain their vengeance on their first match loss by whipping the SWAN CUP runners up team called city fm.

Things seemed to be going according to their script in the first half as they seemingly took control of early exchanges, had more attempts at goal and looked like they were going to score a bag of goals with their inter change of passes, off the ball runs etc… this creek road angels looked a different team from the one that lost to C-WIN STARS OF COOL FM.

They eventually got their goal through star striker Emmanuel Eghaghaifo who was left unmarked by the City Tigers.

However that seemed to Ginger City fm into life as the Sola Rogers tutored City Tigers fought back ferociously with clear intentions not to loose their first game.

With Uche Agbai leading the attack line and taking shots from every part of the field the confidence of his teammates increased and some outstanding play put up by their OAPS, Wilfred and Stanley Mong, Sayo Owolabi, Samson Akindele brought them back fully into the game.

All the pressure being mounted by Cityfm eventually paid off as they scored a deserved equaliser through Samson Akindele, in what can easily be regarded as the goal of the tournament so far.

It was a close fought battle between both teams and the match eventually ended in a 1-1 draw.
