Brothers At War: As Winners Golden Bet Powered Lagos FA Cup Enters Round of 32

The rivalry and competitiveness of Lagos FA Cup, formerly known as the Challenge Cup will continue on Monday with Defending Champions, AS Racine football Club taking on Bridge Football Club in the round of 32 match.

The match is generating so much interest given the relationship between the management of both sides, AS Racine, proprietor Emmanuel Ibru a very close friend of Godson Uti, General Manager of Bridge FC and incidentally are both members of All Stars International of Lagos, hence none of them will like to lose to each other.

Apart from that it was AS Racine that defeated Bridge FC in the round of 16 in the last edition, making the match a make or mar encounter for Bridge FC.

Winners Golden Bet

General Manager of AS Racine FC, Mojeed Adedingbin stated that although the two club sides have got close ties, they will put friendship aside on Monday morning when they confront each other for a place in the next round of the Winners Golden Bet sponsored championship.

“Yes Bridge FC is more like a sister club to Us and they are not a bad side for that matter, but we are not ready to lose our title just like that, thus our determination to go all out for victory on Monday, by his grace”. Adedingbin boasted.

On his part, Head Coach of Bridge FC, Lateef Daramola disclosed that they are ready for the match, having put so much into their preparations and his lads are ready to take their own pound of flesh from them.

Players To Look Out For From Both Sides

Modibo Cisse, Manga Jacob and Bayo Idowu are some of the players to look out for in AS Racine, while Bridge FC are likely to parade players like Kabiru Nosiru, an Attacking Midfielder who propelled Team Lagos to the gold medal of the Men’s football event at the 2012 National Sports Festival, also expected to make the starting line up for Bridge FC are Sunday Lawrence and Galadima Sanni

Also on Monday, 36 Lion FC will confront Anointed Stars Football Club in a match that promises lots of excitement, given the pedigree of both sides who like to use the ball.

With Qudus Suleman marshaling the midfield, while Yusuf Lawal is always ready to wreak havoc with goals, 36 Lion FC are beaming with confidence to move to the next round.

Other matches billed for Monday are Christ Ambassador Football Club taking on My People Football Club, while Future Stars Academy will also battle LSDPC football club for ticket to round of 16.

On Sunday Ikorodu United will slug it out with Freestan Sports FC in the star match of the day, Maurice Cooreman tutored side, Ikorodu United will want to make a statement in the first outing in the Winners Golden Bet powered Lagos FA Cup.

Also on Sunday Ekofootball Beach Soccer League champions, Eko Akete Football Club will play against Oceania football club for ticket to the next round.

Nath Boys FC will take on Ascenders FC in a match that promises lots of fun.

Lagos FA Electoral Committee Releases Guidelines And Timeline For LSFA Election

The race for election into the board of Lagos State Football Association, LSFA has begun with the commencement of the sales of Nomination forms, for the election holding on the 24th of February 2015.

According to the Guidelines and Timelines for the election into the board, released by the the Kehinde Iroche led Electoral Committee, the forms will be on sale from 27th of January through 4th of February, 2015, while submission of completed nomination forms is between 4TH and 9TH of February.

The release also indicated that the screening of candidates for the election will hold on the 11TH and 12TH of February with the list of screened candidates presented to the media immediately after.

While the Appeals committee will sit over any protest arising from the screening on the 13TH to 16TH with the election taking place on the 24TH.

The statement revealed that forms for candidates for the post of Ordinary Board membership will cost N50,000:00, the forms for the Vice Chairmanship is N75,000:00, while Chairmanship forms go for N100,000:00.

The guidelines and, timelines for the election are available on the Lagos State FA official website, http://www.ekofootball.com. The statement noted.

SACMT To Present 1 Million Cheque To APFON

All is now set for the presentation of cheque of N1 million to the Association of Professional Footballers of Nigeria,(APFON), by the organisers of Seyi Akinwunmi Charity Mini Tournament,(SACMT). Mr. Dapo Ajayi, the Project coordinator disclosed that the presentation of the cheque will take place on Saturday the 24th of this month at the Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos.

Ajayi informed that in line with the pledge of the initiators of the Charity tournament to give N1,000,000.00 (one million Naira) out of the proceeds of the event to APFON for the welfare and payment of the medical bills of some indigent Ex International Footballers, the cheque will be presented to the leadership of APFON this Saturday at the Campos Mini Stadium during the finals of the 1st edition of Ekofootball Premier Skills Nigeria, (EPSN).

He noted that the other beneficiary of the Charity tournament that saw the executive governor of Lagos State, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola leading many ex-internationals during the Charity exhibition matches played at the Campos Mini Stadium on the 28th of last month, Courage Education Foundation will be presented with its cheque shortly once all the pledges have been received.

SACMT is the eponymous charity event named after Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, the Chairman of the Lagos state Football Association and the 1st Vice – President of the Nigeria Football Federation. It was organized to raise funds for the education of indigent children in Lagos State via the Courage Education Foundation as well the welfare of ex-international football players.

Barrister Akinwunmi who has in the past raised funds for Courage Education Foundation and Ekofootball is known as an advocate of using education and sports to improve lives, uses every opportunity available to support indigent children in the society.

Ekofootball Beach Soccer League Kicks Off Sunday 30th, November 2014

Beach Soccer action resumes in lagos as the second edition of the Ekofootball Beach Soccer League holds on Sunday the 30th of November 2014 at the Elegushi Beach Soccer Pitch.

This one day day event will officially kickstart the New Beach soccer League season in Lagos.

Defending Champions Owibesebe Beach Soccer Club will lead three other Clubs, namely Bridge Boys Beach Soccer Team, Lagos Island Beach Soccer Team and Pepsi Football Academy Beach Soccer Team in a Four Team Tournament.

It promises to be a day of fun and excitement as the Lagos Football Association has put in place plans for all beach soccer lovers to have fun at the beautiful Elegushi beach, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.

Eko Talent Hunt 2 – Hots Up With More Matches Scheduled for Today

The season 2 of the Eko Talent Hunt Programme of the office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on football matters kicked off yesterday with the under-15 tournament holding at the Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos.

In the first match of the day Eko Football team were beaten by their counterparts Cowbell Football Academy by a lone goal.

In the Second game, Fame Football club beat Greater Tomorrow Academy by three goals to one to pick their first three points in the tournament that has coaches and scouts from around the world, taking note of the outstanding players in the tournament.

Farmers football Academy also lost to Poshey football Academy 2-1, while BRF Academy Worked Over Pepsi Academy in the last match of the day.

Meanwhile the 2 days coaching clinic also put together as part of the season 2 Programme ended yesterday with the coaches applauding the organisers for putting the clinic together.

One of the speakers at the 2 day Clinic is Renowned Sports Journalist and Lawyer Mr. Godwin Dudu – Orumen, Who presented an Insightful paper on “Protecting the RIGHTS of children”

Coach of BRF Academy, coach Tunde thanked organizers for their foresight in packaging the coaching clinic.

“This clinic is an eye opener and I believe most of my colleagues here have gained a lot just as I have also gained a lot from the resource persons that conducted the clinic.

Also in attendance were Ex internationals like Gbenga Okunowo, Mike Onyemachara, Teslim Fatusi and Wahid Akanni.

However the event continues today with matches in the tournament holding at the same venue of Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos. From 10:00am – 3:00pm daily, while the Finals comes up on the 12th of May at The Onikan Stadium in Lagos.
