SECRETS OF IGHALO’S SUCCESS- By Akeem Busari

The rich scoring vein of Odion Jude Ighalo, has been described by followers of the game and pundits as amazing and record setting. This present season, the Ajegunle born striker has scored 13 goals in the EPL and a total of 28 goals in the calendar year.

Despite the technical analysis, the real secret behind Ighalo’s fast rising profile has been revealed to be his love and undying passion for the less privileged, particularly, in his beloved Ajegunle.

In the past two years, Ighalo has become recognised as one of the major sponsors of the very influential and life changing, Wazobia Widows Foundation. This foundation which was established 12 years ago by Pastor Benjamin Igoh, has largely, been responsible for the financial and moral upkeep of hundreds of hapless and poor widows in the ghetto of Ajegunle.

Beyond all rhetorics, the real secret of his success has been disclosed by Pastor Igoh. “Unknown to many people, Odion,is a
devout christian and also a strong prayer warrior, who believes so much in God,” he explained.

However, the major assists for Ighalo, has been coming from the relentless and fervent prayers from the widows, on whose faces and hearts, he has brought untold joy and happiness,” added the youthful pastor.

It would be recalled that on the eve of Christmas, Ighalo, in conjunction with Pastor Igoh and Wazobia Widows Foundation gave out cash gifts, clothing materials, bags of rice and other food items to the widows, in the spirit of the festive season.

“We think that they will come with a good plan on Saturday though it’s a test match. In our league match against them, they were very determined and remain a tough nut to crack. We will have to deal with their kicking game and try to impose our game onto them. Tens rugby is a different ball game and I think we should be able to control the game. Sunday said.

Cowrie RFC will be participating in the biggest rugby tens tournament in the world ‘The Cape town tens’, the team is a pioneer member of the event and will be appearing for the 6th time in the tournament.
