Tunisia Count Down To Historic Men’s African Volleyball Club Championship

Tunisia Volleyball Federation along with the organizer Etoile du Sahel are preparing the final touches to host the historic 2015 Men’s African Club Championship which is expected to attract a record number of African Clubs on March 7 to 16 competing for a World Championship’s Spot.

The record of participation belongs to the 2010 edition when 22 teams competed for the African most attractive tournament, but this year 24 teams are expected to battle it out in Sousse which is hosting the competition for the second consecutive year.

The competition will be hosted in 2 competition halls; Sousse Olympic and Msaken Halls in the Mediterranean city of Sousse.

All the continental big forces will be represented like the record holder Ahly of Egypt who have 10 titles under their name beside the defending champions Esperance of Tunisia and Amalek of Egypt who won 5 cups.

Among the favourites also are Algeria’s Setif and Bourj Bouaririj, Morocco’s FAR and Cameroon’s FAP.

New comers are Zimbabwe’s Support Unit, Atletico VB of Cape Verde, Morocco’s Ittihad Tangier and Burundi’s Rukinzo.

The participating teams will be divided into 4 preliminary pools where the top two teams of each proceed to the quarterfinal, while the third and fourth ranked teams play for the 9 to 16 standings.
