Amuneke Picks Nwakali, Osimhen, 19 Others For Chile

Head Coach Emmanuel Amuneke has selected the 21 players who will represent Nigeria at the 16th FIFA U-17 World Cup to be hosted in Chile between October 17 and November 8.

Speaking to thenff.com, Amuneke described his list as very exciting and was confident the players would fly the country’s flag very well in Chile.

“The World Cup is here and we have picked the best players for this assignment to represent our country,” said the former African Footballer of the Year.“ We have brought in new players to add value to the team that secured the ticket for Chile at the last African U-17 Nations Cup in Niger Republic and we believe this crop of players would give their best in Chile, as we are the defending champions.”

Team captain Kelechi Nwakali, as well as strikers Victor Osimhen and Ebere Osinachi, who were in the team that secured the country’s World Cup ticket at the African U-17 Nations Cup in Niger in February made the final list for the competition Nigeria won in 1985, 1993, 2007 and 2013.

Also picked from the squad that came fourth in Niger 2015 were seven other players including goalkeepers Akpan Udoh and Amos Benjamin, defenders Halilu Lukman and Lazarus John, midfielder Kingsley Michael and strikers Orji Okonkwo and Samuel Chukwueze.

Midfielder Chinedu Madueke and Sunday Alimi as well as goalkeeper Chisom Chiaha who failed to make the Niger 2015 squad were also picked for Chile 2015.

New faces in the team are defenders David Enogela, Ibe Tobechukwu and Ejike Ikwu. Funsho Bamgboye, Chukwudi Agor, Joel Osikel, Edidiong Essien and Udochukwu Anumudu complete the list.

The Golden Eaglets would have the honour of playing the opening match of the FIFA U-17 World Cup against the United States of
America on October 17 at the Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos in Santiago. The Eaglets’ other Group A matches against host Chile and Croatia would be played on October 20 and 23 respectively.

Yeleussinov Marches On And Uzbekistan Boxers Continue To Shine At AIBA World Championships

It was a good start to day four of the 2015 AIBA World Championships for the Uzbekistan team, with three boxers progressing through to the quarter finals despite a surprise defeat for Shakhobiddin Zoirov at the hands of China’s fleet-footed WSB boxer Hu Jianguan.

Cuba’s two-time PanAmerican Games champion Leinier Pero could find no answers to the attacks of Uzbekistan’s promising Bakhodir Jalolov, who has already won four international AOB tournaments in 2015 and made it to the quarter-finals of the super heavyweight class.

Filipino welterweight Eumir Felix Marcial took on Spain’s Youba Ndiaye Sissokho with renewed vigour following a pep-talk with his idol Manny Pacquiao the day before, and Marcial grew stronger as the contest went on to comfortably progress.

“I was so excited going in to the championship knowing that my idol Manny Pacquiao would be coming to Qatar. His advice was to dominate the bout and be aggressive and I knew after the first round I could do that and enjoy the contest,” said Marcial after the match.

Two-time EUBC European light heavyweight Champion Joseph Ward may only be 22 years old, but he clearly thrives on the biggest stages. The Irish APB boxer had a stern test in the form of Ukraine’s AIBA Youth World Champion Oleksandr Khyzhniak, but he found his reach in the second round to edge through to the quarters.

Earlier on in the flyweight class, Venezuela’s AMBC American Champion Yoel Finol suffered a surprise defeat to Colombia’s Ceiber David Avila, while Kazakhstan’s WSB giant Olzhas Sattibayev narrowly overcame Bulgaria’s teenage sensation Daniel Asenov in a thrilling contest.

Kazakhstan also boast a strong pedigree in the welterweight class, and defending AIBA World Champion and WSB team champion Daniyar Yeleussinov marched on in the competition by defeating Belarusian Pavel Kastramin.

Pinnick Charges Eagles To Beat Cameroon

NFF President Amaju Pinnick has challenged the Super Eagles to approach their international friendly against Cameroon on Sunday with gusto and attain victory in order to make Nigerians forget Thursday’s defeat by the Democratic Republic of Congo.

First half goals by Dieumerci Mbokani and Jordan Nkololo gave the Leopards a 2-0 win over the Super Eagles in Vise, Belgium on Thursday. But Pinnick, who watched the game in company with NFF Vice Presidents Seyi Akinwunmi and Shehu Dikko, told the players in the dressing room after the match to forget whatever issues had arisen in the camp over the past few days and attack the Indomitable Lions with passion.

“There is no time for us to dwell on this defeat (by DR Congo). We were not at the last Africa Cup of Nations finals, but the Congolese were there and finished the tournament as bronze medal –winners.

“It is not an excuse to lose to them. But it is a fact. However, I have no doubt in your ability to turn things around when we play Cameroon on Sunday. That means you need to put this defeat behind you and focus hard on Sunday’s match.”

The NFF President assured that the Federation will always give all necessary support to Coach Sunday’s Oliseh’s moves to build s formidable team that will recreate the glory days of Nigeria football.

“A lot has happened in the past couple of days, but the important thing is that the NFF will always be there for the team. A football team is like a family, and the Head Coach is like the father. I enjoin each and everyone of you to work with the coaches and abide by his instructions so that we can become better and stronger.

“On our part, we will continue to work hard to get friendly matches for you so that the team can bond better and achieve telepathy on the field. Our commitment to taking Nigeria football to heights never previously attained is unshaken.”

Sunday Oliseh, The Bumbling Super Eagles Coach By Aderonke Bello

I have said it over and again, Oliseh is not the right choice for the Super Eagles job. So far the NFF said he is what they want, then, so be it!

Some weeks ago in Abuja, the Nigeria Football Federation appointed Sunday Oliseh, who does not have enough technical clue about coaching, he has however never been able to coach a top team in the history of his coaching career, and has obviously waited on the shelf for good seven years to get the eagles job.

Safe to say, his appointment was controversial because it lacked due process.

It is no longer news that he obtained the UEFA license coaching certificate, rather he is renowned for his excellent TV analysis and punditry which necessarily do not amount to good coaching and man management, on-field techniques amongst others.

It was widely reported that Oliseh called the security operatives in Belgium to get Vincent Enyeama out of the eagles camp, the legendary goalkeeper was ridiculed, Vincent is not a perfect human being like the rest of us but, no one deserves such treatment. He is the captain for God’s sake. What on earth was Oliseh thinking? This is just ridiculous. History will not forget him for the drama in far away Belgium.

The coach who is using the Super Eagles to test run his coaching career disgraced the most capped player in the history of Nigerian football, Oliseh records cannot touch Enyeama’s records in Nigeria.

Unfortunately, the NFF renowned for swift press releases to deny issues has however refused to make any comment on the issue.

POLITICS.

Sunday Oliseh And NFF President Amaju Pinnick
Sunday Oliseh And NFF President Amaju Pinnick

Going through the social media, some Nigerians were of the opinion that Ahmed Musas appointment is political because’the Nigerian president is from the Northern part of the nation, why would anyone think about that, like really? That is a dumb thing to say, on the other hand, Musa is a great guy and lucky to be made a captain in a space of just three years with the team.

I recall, Enyeama had an issue with the NFF’s disciplinary committee some weeks ago when he refused to yield their invitation to appear before the committee for making comments about the team’s safety in Kaduna during the first leg of the 2017 cup of nations qualifier against Chad. Since then, he has been in hot soup and a target, it is an obvious pay back time and some people are using Oliseh to do their beat.

How wise can Oliseh get? No one should be treated that way, not even your dog. This is a low blow coming from Oliseh, his leadership skill is questionable, Nigerians should get set to see more of this coach who has temperament issues, as we all know him to be since his playing days. Enyeama could be rebellious too, but it takes a leader to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the people working under him and manage them well. How did Oliseh feel when he was booted out of the team and he missed the Korea/Japan world cup?

Retirement

I dont believe in Vincent Enyeama retiring, he cannot leave like that after his 13 years dedication to motherland. Carl Ikeme is the new messiah and you feel Enyeama is useless all of sudden, whatever happened to Austin Ejide who deserve to be part of the team?.

Oliseh is not what we need, he lacks the ability and capability, his leadership skills and man management is not good for chasing one of the greatest in the Super Eagles out in a way. Federal government, human right activists and Nigerians should rise and fight this injustice.

The goalkeeper lost his mother and a single message did not come from the NFF to share their condolence suddenly the picture of NFF President was sent out in a press relaease, he has done a great job isnt it, shaking my head. Do we call that, hypocrisy?

Oliseh said he did not inform him when his mother died, haba!!! We are talking about his mother here, to add salt to his injuries, and despite burying his mum just last weekend he went to camp and this happened. Enyeama please go home and mourn your mum. Work on yourself as well and I hope to see you back in the team, your instagram message on retirement as far as I am concerned is null and void.

Enyeama is still part of the team, as I conclude, I expect the NFF in their wisdom to wade in, it will be hypocritical of them to be mute at this stage.
