Egypt Claim Third African Girls’ U18 Volleyball Championship In A Row

2014 Girls’ U18 African Nations Championship- Day 3

Egypt claimed the third in a row Girls’ U18 African Nation Championship crown following their win against host Algeria 3-0 (25-21, 27-25, 25-19) in the third and final day of the competition at Hacene Harcha hall in Alger, Algeria on Tuesday.

Egypt improved their record to 2-0 to win their third consecutive title after 2011 and 2013 and the fifth in total.

Tunisia got the silver medal of the 3 Nation tournament with 1-1 ahead of Algeria who came third with 0-2. The three teams confirmed their 2015 Girls’ U18 World championship tickets.

In the final match, Egypt led in the first set using the spikes of Nada Meawad who was chosen as the competition most valuable player. Algeria came close in the second set through their blocking activity and were about to win the set, but the Egyptian girls came back to win the crucial points and captured the set 27-25. Egypt’s girls became more motivated to win the third set comfortably 25-19 and set their third title in row.
