Metro Pro League: Union Bank whitewashes Remo Stars

Metro Pro League: Union Bank whitewashes Remo Stars…As Apapa Golden Stars reclaim top spot

Union Bank Football Club of Lagos puts Remo Stars title hopes asunder, as the Bankers dimmed the Stars by 4-0 at the Onikan Stadium.

Union Bank shot into the lead in the second minute of the 2nd half through Dimeji Hassan who cut through the Remo Stars defence to put his team ahead after the entire first half failed to produce any goal from either side.

The Kunle Soname’s boys returned with so much venom in the second half but their attacking forays were checkmated by the Bankers, just as they grabbed another goal when Remo’s goalie attempted a clearance which hit Union Bank’s Bobby Clement in the 75th minute of the tie.

Few minutes later, Union Bank made it three through an own goal, just as Mbonu slotted home the fourth and final goal of the match.
Union Bank with 16 points are now fourth on log while Remo Stars who are former league leaders have dropped to the second place.
Meanwhile.

Apapa Golden Stars defeated 36 Lion 3-1 to go top of the log with 17 points. Apapa has won five games, two draws and two loses.

In other games of Week 9, Bridge FC drew one-all with Bolowotan FC, Collins Edwin Sports Club also drew two-all with Nath Boys FC at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.

Meanwhile, Collins Edwin Sports Club and 36 Lion are rock-bottom at the mid-season stage of the Metro Pro League.
