African Dream Becomes A Reality In Tanzania

In another move for the implementation of African dream project in Tanzania, two more Centers of Excellence have been launched at Masasi Girls Secondary School in Mtwara region and Manyara Ranchi primary school in Arusha region.

Children aged between 10 to 12 from primary Schools and 12 to 14 from Secondary schools with a height 150 cm and above, 170 cm and above from Primary School and Secondary schools respectively are the main target.

Regional education officers, Volleyball leaders, Heads of Schools, TV, Radio and News paper reporters were among many stake holders in attendance to assure the full support, and the proper use of the equipments as intended.

Twenty eight girls from different schools in Mtwara region and 30 girls from Monduli district in Arusha were selected to train in both centers respectively.

In his remarks the President Tanzania VB Fed “TAVA” President Mr Agapa Israel thanked CAVB and FIVB for the great support and assistance.

Injured Super Eagles Midfielder Uzochukwu Resumes Full Training

Nigeria international Izunna Uzochukwu has said he will resume full training at his Russian club after he recovered from a groin injury.

The Amkar Perm of Russia midfielder who represented the Super Eagles Of Nigeria Against Tanzania said: “I am getting better every day. I just resumed training recently with our physical trainer to see how the reaction of injury will be, but it looks good so far.

“I should be back training fully with the team next week.”

The former FC Midtjylland of Denmark ace and ebiede academy product suffered a groin injury while in action for Nigeria in a 2017 AFCON qualifier against Tanzania in Dar es Salaam and so missed the friendly against Niger Republic.

Izuna’s team , Amkar Perm of Russia next face dinamo moscow on the 17th of october 2015.

Volleyball: African Dream Becomes A Reality At Tanga School Centre

Thirty students from different parts of Tanzania aged between 12 and 14 years with a height above 170 cm started the real process of Africa Dream Project in the country.

Tanzania Volleyball Association President Agustine Agapa said in his speech at the project implementation, “TAVA on the road to success. In four to five years Tanzania will Participate in the International Competition and win. It is better late than never.”

The students are ready to start the training at Tanga School. The Launching ceremony was held on September 19, 2015. The Tanga region education officer and other government officials were among many stake holders who attended the event.

The Media was interested to cover the event for three days as it was a main topic in the local media. This is the right approach as many people followed up the events and know more about volleyball.

Cameroon , Congo Friendly Will Help Eagles Bounce Back-Okumagba

National Chairman of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC) nationwide, Vincent Okumagba has called on Nigerians to be patient with Super Eagles Chief Coach, Sunday Oliseh Following the eagles recent performance in the 2015 Afcon qualifiers.

The Super Eagles played a draw in Tanzania then later won their first game under Oliseh, after they defeated Niger Republic in a friendly game recently.

Nigeria will step up their preparations for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers with two international friendly fixtures next month, against Congo and Cameroon in Belgium but Okumagba sees the two matches as key to get Nigeria into shape.

“i think the eagles will soon bounce back to winning ways, we all saw what happened in Tanzania, it was Oliseh’s first litmus test, which wasnt that bad, a draw and a win against niger in the international friendly, but i think the next two friendlies will help the eagles come back to winning ways.”

The game against four-time African champions Cameroon will be the first meeting between the two sides since the Super Eagles beat the Indomitable Lions 2-1 in Monastir at the 2004 Cup of Nations.

Oliseh Delights At Unity In Eagles’ Camp

Coach Sunday Oliseh has expressed delight at the unity in the Super Eagles’ camp as the group focuses on earning a place at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals.

Nigeria could only draw 0-0 with Tanzania’s Taifa Stars at the weekend as the race to Gabon 2017 reached a third of the way, but former captain Oliseh says he has confidence in his wards to steer Nigeria to the finals.

“I have said it over and over that I am no magician. We have to come to accept the hard fact that we are not right there at the top there, at the moment.

“No doubt, we have potential, and based on the unity I have seen amongst the players, and the willingness to work hard and accomplish, we will get back to the top in good time.”

Sunday Oliseh spoke at a press conference at Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt ahead of Tuesday’s friendly with the Mena of Niger Republic.

“We are building a new team, and patience is required. It is like starting from the scratch, because the fact is that we didn’t qualify for the last Africa Cup of Nations.

“However, I have the confidence that this group will make Nigeria proud again.”

Coach Oliseh will lead his troops out at the Adokiye Amiesieamaka Stadium against the Mena, who lost 0-2 to Burundi in Bujumbura on Saturday. But right back Leon Balogun, who suffered a knock at training and thus missed the Tanzanian match, flew back to Germany from Dar es Salaam.

Midfielder Izunna Uzochukwu is also out, and this necessitated the invitation of Nasarawa United midfielder Bature Yaro. Also, defender Kenneth Omeruo has recovered from his knock against Tanzania.

Tuesday’s match starts at 3pm.

Super Eagles Fly To Tanzania On Thursday Afternoon

The delegation of Super Eagles of Nigeria to Saturday’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania will fly out of Abuja at 3pm on Thursday, according to the NFF

Arrival at the Julius Nyerere International Airport, Dar es Salaam will be at 10pm (8pm Nigeria time) of the same day.

The Tanzania Football Federation has confirmed that the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between the Taifa Stars and Super Eagles of Nigeria will come up at the National Stadium, Dar es Salaam on Saturday, September 5.

The match will kick off at 4.30pm Tanzania time (2.30pm in Nigeria).

The Super Eagles are joint top with the Pharaohs of Egypt in Group G of the qualifying series, having beaten Chad 2-0 in Kaduna in June’s Matchday 1, but the North Africans have one goal advantage having beaten the Taifa Stars 3-0 the same weekend.

The Nigeria Football Federation has also confirmed that it has finalized all arrangements with regards to the Super Eagles’ movement into and out of Dar es Salaam, as well as accommodation for the delegation in the Tanzanian capital.

Sources further confirmed that while the delegation will fly out from Abuja, the chartered aircraft will fly the delegation to Port Harcourt on return, where the Super Eagles tackle the Mena of Niger Republic in an international friendly on Tuesday, September 8.

Nigeria Will Rule African Football Under Oliseh-Babangida

Former Nigerian international Tijani Babangida is optimistic the Super Eagles of nigeria will beat Tanzania when both sides face-off in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday.

Both Babangida and Oliseh played together at top Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam and Babangida who was recently appointed special assistant and liaison to Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh further hinted he believes the new super eagles will come back to winning ways under oliseh.

“its a new Super Eagles and for sure we need time, but am 100 percent sure the Eagles will soon rule african football under oliseh, the Super Eagles will do well , oliseh knows everything about the job, he played in the uefa champions league, world cup, and Nations Cup. He knows football is about team work, our first test is in Tanzania, for the afcon qualifier, after then we take each game with caution as they come, but i am assuring nigerians its victory all the way” he said.

Nigeria, are gunning to return to the continental competition which they missed out on last time, and have already started the qualifying series on a promising note, beating Chad 2-0 in their first game.

Eagles will beat Tanzania – OBAFEMI MARTINS

Seatle Sounders forward and former Eagles lead striker Obafemi Martins has predicted that Nigeria will triumph over Tanzania in the 2017 AFCON qualifier next month.

Martins, who has scored 18 goals in 39 games for Nigeria hinted that the new eagles led by Oliseh will beat tanzania come September 5th 2015 .

“I think the coach has chosen a good squad and hopefully nigeria will win in Tanzania,” Obagoal said from his base in seatle USA .

“We shouldnt underrate any team in africa for now, no minnows in world football anymore , but i have seen the list, its a very experience team led by Emenike and Vincent Enyeama, and i am sure the eagles will beat the tafia stars to come out top in the group “

Oliseh Calls Enyeama, 17 Others For Tanzania

Super Eagles’ Head Coach Sunday Oliseh has invited 18 overseas-based professionals for next month’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania in Dar es Salaam.

First–choice goalkeeper and skipper Vincent Enyeama headlines the list that also has defenders Godfrey Oboabona, Leon Balogun and Kenneth Omeruo, midfielders Rabiu Ibrahim, Lukman Haruna and Joel Obi, and forwards Ahmed Musa, Emmanuel Emenike and Anthony Ujah.

There are a number of surprises, in line with Oliseh’s earlier pledge to make current form and first–level football key indices for selection.

There are goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, midfielder Izunna Ernest Uzochukwu and forwards Emem Eduok, Sylvester Igboun and Moses Simon.

All the 18 players, who will join up with the 23 home boys who arrived camp in Abuja on Monday, are expected in Abuja on Monday, 31st August, 2015 at the latest.

Adeniji Thanks Oliseh, Aims To Break NPFL Goal Record

Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, leading marksman Tunde Adeniji has thanked new Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh for giving him the opportunity to prove himself in the senior national team.

Oliseh on Friday named the former Rising Stars of Akure striker among a strong 23 home–based professionals for next month’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier away to Tanzania.

Adeniji, who is just 19, was discovered by scouts of the Ondo State Football Agency, ODSFA, while playing for Methodist High School in Okitipupa, Ondo state and he insists his target is not just to become the league’s highest goal scorer this season but also to break the NPFL all time goal record of 23 goal set last season by Enyimba’s Mfon Udoh.

“My target is to break the record created by Mfon Udoh last season. He scored 23 goals and with the help of my team mates, I know I can go pass that record this season,”

The erstwhile Rising Stars of Akure forward, has scored 12 goals so far, one ahead of Heartland’s Bright Ejike who is on 11 goals.

His goals have helped Sunshine Stars reclaim NPFL top position from Enyimba of Aba.

Oliseh Calls 23 Home-Boys For Tanzania

Super Eagles’ Head Coach, Sunday Oliseh has invited 23 home –based professionals who will kick–start preparations for next month’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier away to Tanzania.

At the head of the pack is Warri Wolves’ forward Gbolahan Salami, who scored one of the goals when the Eagles opened the race with a 2-0 win over Chad in Kaduna in June. There are also regular faces like Solomon Kwambe and Nelson Ogbonnaya.

A handful of players of the U-23 squad that survived a stern test in Pointe Noire on Sunday to qualify for the African U-23 Championship finals, will be joined by former junior international goalkeepers Olufemi Thomas and Ikechukwu Ezenwa, as well as a number of new faces, led by top scorer in the Glo NPFL race, Tunde Adeniji of Sunshine Stars.

The players are expected to report to the Bolton White Apartments, Abuja on Monday, 17 August. Nigeria play Tanzania in Dar es Salaam on September 5 in one of the Matchday 2 games of the qualification series for Gabon 2017.

Oliseh returns next week

Super Eagles’ Head Coach, Sunday Oliseh, will return to the country next week, as preparations hit top gear for next month’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Tanzania in Dar es Salaam.

The former Super Eagles’ captain is presently in the United Kingdom with his assistant, Jean Francois Loscuito, and a number of meetings with senior Nigerian internationals in that country are on-going.

Oliseh, officially presented on July 15, has assured that he is already working assiduously towards raising a solid squad to pick up three vital points from East Africa in four-and-half weeks’ time.

“The match in Dar es Salaam is very, very crucial, not only because it will be my first match as Head Coach, but also because we have no choice than to win. The three points are important for us to keep up the tempo in our group.

“We are on the same three points with Egypt, though they have scored a goal more. That is why we cannot afford any slip along the way. We will deal first with the match in Tanzania, and then we will start thinking about the CHAN qualifiers with Burkina Faso in October, and then the World Cup qualifying fixture in November. There is a lot of work. After these matches, we will now start working towards the two AFCON qualifying matches we have with the Pharaohs in March next year.”

Oliseh, in company with NFF President Amaju Pinnick, will also be involved in a number of sessions with some corporate groups interested in partnering with Nigeria football.

“We will spread our dragnet far and wide, and any player who is in great form and we believe can add value to the Super Eagles will be invited to fight for shirt to represent Nigeria.”

The Super Eagles play Tanzania at the National Stadium, Dar es Salaam on Saturday, 5th September, with an international friendly to fulfill a few days later.
