About 60 divers from the world’s strongest nations in the sport – Australia, Canada, China, Colombia, Cuba, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Russia, Ukraine and USA – will be on-hand at the first meet of the FINA/NVC Diving World Series 2015 taking place at Beijing’s iconic ‘Water Cube’ (CHN) from March 13-15.
The stellar line-up includes many returning Olympic and World champions: 10m Olympic champion David Boudia (USA), 3m World champion and 2014 overall Series winner Chong He (CHN), 2014 overall Series winner in the 3m springboard Yahel Castillo (MEX), Olympic bronze medallist Tom Daley (GBR), Olympic and World silver medallist in 3m synchro Evgeniy Kuznetsov (RUS) to name a few among men.
With a record 19 golds at the Series, Chinese World champion He Zi has been an ever-looming threat in the 3m springboard since her first participation in the event in 2009. Last year, He finished second overall behind compatriot Wang Han, 2013 World silver medallist in Barcelona. Standout performer He will vie for a sixth World Series title this year.
Olympic and World medallists Laura Sanchez (MEX), Tania Cagnotto (ITA), Pandelela Rinong Pamg (MAS), Pamela Ware (CAN) and Iuliia Prokopchuk (UKR) will be among those to watch as well.
On top of the regular eight-event competition schedule, a mixed team event will be featured for the first time. Pairs from Canada, China, Mexico and Russia have been entered for Beijing.
