Pistorius Gets Bail, Will Appeal Murder Conviction

South African Athlete Oscar Pistorius as been granted bail by Judge Aubrey Ledwaba with the Judge saying that the Paralympian as “proven that he his not a flight risk”

Pistorius will remain under house arrest till the 18th of April 2016 when he will appear in court again, his bail was set at ten thousand Rand, and he would be allowed to leave the house from time to time.

The Blade Runner as he his fondly referred to will also appeal the Judgement to upgrade his “culpable homicide” charge to Murder at the Supreme Court.

Pistorius was initially jailed for five years for culpable homicide in the valentine’s day killing of his Model Girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

If found guilty of murder Pistorius will face a minimum of 15 years in jail.

South Africa’s Supreme Court Finds Pistorius Guilty Of Murder

The South African Supreme Court of Appeal siting today in South Africa has found South African Paralympic Athlete guilty of Murder thereby overturning the “culpable homicide” charge he was initially charge with.

Pistorius who is currently under house arrest after being released from prison a few weeks ago will now return to court to be sentenced, Although he might still have the option of going to a constitutional court to to fight this ruling on some technicalities bordering of human rights violation.

The Oscar Pistorius legal saga started after he shot his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in his house on St Valentines day in 2013.

The Sentencing is expected to come up in late January or early February 2016.

Oscar Pistorius Gets Bail, Set To Be Released From Prison…

Oscar Pistorius is set to be released from jail after spending 12 months. He will be released to house arrest on Tuesday next week.

Pistorius was found guilty in September 2014 of homicide after he fired gunshots through his toilet door to fatally injure his then girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

Pistorius is however not completely off the hook as the Prosecutors of the Steenkamp case are awaiting an appeal of the previous judgement. They prosecutors want the previous judgement of “culpable homicide” changed to Murder, a charge which may see the “blade runner” return to prison.

The Appeal is set to be heard on the 3rd of November 2015.
