IGALI DECRIES LACK OF PREPARATION FOR WRESTLERS……HAILS ADEKUOROYE By Akeem Busari

The President of Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Hon.Daniel Igali, has decried the apparent lack of preparations for Nigerian wrestlers ,as the Rio 2016 Olympic games draws near. In a chat with the Writer (Akeem Busari), the former Olympic gold medalist, was irked that the plans to adequately prepare the athletes for the Olympics through tournaments, have repeatedly been scuttled by the lack of funds.

“It is indeed, sad to state that only Odunayo Adekuoroye, has had some preparations for the Olympics, Hon. Igali, lamented”

“Other wrestlers who were supposed to attend a tournament in Brazil, earlier this month, were sent back home due to supposed lack of funds. Sports authorities felt the money could be better used for an irrigation project” An obviously angry Igali, continued.

“Meanwhile, we spent over 300 million naira on the Golden Eaglets, but 20 million for wrestlers was too much an investment in an Olympic year. It is sad,” he said.

Speaking further, he commended female wrestler and commonwealth champion, Odunayo Adekuoroye, for leading her team,Mumbai Garuba,to emerge the champions of the Indian Pro Wrestling League.
