CAVB Refereeing Course Concludes In Gambia

The first National referee course organized by CAVB under the presidency of Yunusa Barry in Gambia was concluded on Monday 27th July 2015 in Banjul, with the participation of 19 referees. The five-day programme conducted by FIVB instructor Jaouad Berrada (Morocco) followed-up on a similar course implemented in August 2014 which was instructed by CAVB international referee Bai Dodou Jallow (Gambia) and focused on practical and theoretical training, in the areas of refereeing with the objective of enabling participants to run grassroots activities within Gambia’s volleyball circle. The course ended with an examination session with 95% passes.

‘’It is always good to be part of history, and I would continue to challenge you, to accept that instead of succeeding today we have started a journey, a journey of injecting all the skills, all the knowledge and passion we know about volleyball’’ commented Yunusa Barry President Gambia Volleyball Federation (GVBF). We can see that a great deal of attention is being given to volleyball by Government, local sporting authorities, clubs, schools and academies to support the local volleyball scene.”

“The course provided us with a clear insight into some key aspects of refereeing in volleyball, including volleyball development, the organization of Volleyball festivals and basic refereeing skills, which will play a key role in the development of our sport in Gambia,” said Joseph Sambou a Participant from Gambia Armed Forces (GAF).

Course instructor Jaouad Berrada also thanked the participants for discipline, commitment and dedication. He commended the national federation for conducting refereeing courses in the Gambia and confirmed that 16 referees successfully pass the exam.

CAVB National Refereeing course concludes in Mauritius

African Volleyball Confederation “CAVB” organised a national Refereeing course in Vacoa, Mauritius in the framework of CAVB Development Strategic Plan,

The course was conducted by CAVB Instructor Jaouad Berrada and attended by 25 participants including 9 women referees in 10 days between June 28 to July 7, 2014.

The course instructor was satisfied by the level of the participants in both theoretical and practical sessions of the course and the facilities provided by the Mauritian Volleyball Federation.

“We had a very successful course due to the great help by the national federation and the cooperation and motivation of the participants,” Said course instructor Berrada. “I want to thank CAVB for their great support to such kind of courses that help the sport from the scratch. Now we are expecting good outcome from those referees in the near future both locally and internationally.”

CAVB Organises National Referees Course In Madagascar

African volleyball confederation “CAVB” organised a National Refereeing Course in Madagascar June 22 to 26, 2014 under supervision of the national Volleyball Federation in Madagascar.

The course attracted 28 referees among them 8 females who participated actively in all the course sessions conducted by CAVB Instructor Jaouad Berrada.

The local federation president Khalid Kassam provided all the facilities for the best outcome from the course during all the theoretical and Practical sessions.

“We had a very successful course here after the highly favourable condition we had here in Madagascar,” said course Instructor Berrada.

“We started with 4 theoretical session which permitted the participants to understand the 28 rules of game and then we had also 4 practical sessions, where the referees had trials as first and second referees beside a role as scorers. At the end of course I was happy to see the great improvement in their level.”
