Dolphins Dedicate Kano Result To Gov Nyesom Wike

Dolphins Football Club on Sunday became the first club in the Nigerian league to draw in Kano this season and players/ officials of the club have dedicated the point to Governor Nyesom Wike.

After going two goals down, Dolphins rallied round to end the encounter 2-2 and Media Manager, China Acheru says it was the payments made to players just three days before the game that geared them up.

“I have always said that a well paid players does not guarantee success, but one thing you are sure of is that they will be focused on their immediate assignment,” Acheru said.

“For eight months the team had lacked focus as players and officials were either running from creditors, their landlords or not able to pay school fees for their kids.

“However, with what happened in Port Harcourt last week and all debts seemingly paid, the boys can stay focused and we are happy we did the near impossible on Sunday in Kano,” Acheru said.

Victor Ezuruike, who came on in the last fifteen minutes of the game added that the boys have solved some of their problems and are now focused on the task ahead.

“Honestly, it was that payment that “gingered” us to perform and that is because that money we received at least helped us solve some problems around us and we just want to thank the governor,” Ezuruike said.

Coach of the side, Stanley Eguma thanked the governor for his swiftness in responding to their welfare.

“By the time we left Port Harcourt I sensed we were going to get a result because the players all wore bright faces.

“We just thank the governor for the gesture and believe he will continue to handle our matters with this kind of speed,” Eguma said.

Dolphins have remained in Kano since their draw on Sunday and will depart for Katsina on Tuesday for a league game against Elkanemi at the Karkarda Stadium on Wednesday.

The last time Kano Pillars drew a home match in the League was April 30, 2014 against Heartland. The encounter ended 1-1

The arrival of Captain Azubuike Egwuekwe and Josiah Maduabuchi arrival in Bizerte , Tunisia for the second leg tie with C.A.Bizertin was well celebrated by the players and Officials of Warri Wolves, with the sole aim of making it to the second round in spite of the fact that the first leg in Warri ended without a goal to show for it.

According to the Media Manager Moses Etu, Azubuike who got married last weekend could not travel with the rest of the team while Josiah Maduabuchi was left behind due to paper works but both players have been training in Lagos under a Coach and arrived Bizerte successfully on Friday morning.

Speaking on the match, Azubuike expressed happiness that he has made it at last and vowed to use his experience to guide the team to victory.

Meanwhile, Etu has advised his colleagues to always verify their story before it is published, saying that it is unfortunate that some people could publish lies all in a bid to paint the Club in a bad light.

According to Etu, there is no truth in a story published by an online medium that the Club is owing players and that the Club travelled with 16 players to Tunisia without finding out why the Club travelled without two players who have since joined the team in Tunis.

‘ It is unfortunate that people could go to the extent of trying to destabilize our arrangement to have a good outing in Bizerte by coming out with a false story when all hands should be on deck to see that the team qualifies for the next round. It is only Warri Wolves that has successfully paid the salaries and allowances of players and Coaches for last season and we have also paid the bonuses and allowances of players including the victory over Elkanemi in a our only league match. We are not bothered because nobody can tarnish our image as we are up to the task”

Etu therefore urged all to disregard such report and pray for the team to scale through in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup in what promises to be explosive and exciting.
