CAVB President Dr Amr Elwani featured the great development of African volleyball during the last 12 months due to the great efforts done by all the board members and the sounding support for the International Volleyball governing body FIVB after President Dr Ary Graca took over the responsibility with his great ability to aid the sport form the scratch.

Elwani showed in his activity report in front of the CAVB Board of Administration on Thursday, the most important initiative, “the African dream Project” which will be implemented under the name of FIVB President. He figured out the great unity of the whole board during the 2013 CAVB Congress in Rwanda

CAVB President thanked the whole commissions for the great job they have done during their meetings in the past 12 months. He added that those commission added strength to CAVB strategies.

“We invested 450.000 CHF in 2013 in courses and development where more than 500 participants got the benefit of these programs in 21 different countries,” said Elwani.

“We also renovated the Development centers and each center should organize at least 3 courses per year to help the neighbouring countries beside the VCP courses supervised by FIVB.”

He showed also the big jump in the number of international referees to 213 which helped African referees to arise also at the international level.

“One of the major highlights of the year was the 2014 World Championship Qualification which included 36 tournaments at the Sun Zonal, Zonal and finals. We spent 1,200.000 CHF as a support from the FIVB to finally qualify 5 teams (3 men and 2 women) to the World Championships finals in Poland and Italy.”

“We need also to evaluate the great development in Beach Volleyball Activity attracting more than 40 countries out of the 53 affiliated National Federation. We had also good work in the age group African Championships qualifying to the World Championships,”

“We also want to highly evaluate the great work done by the media to cover the sport throughout the continent and transfer a good image for the sport to the whole world. He also emphasised the role of the Social media in covering the whole activity giving fast and comprehensive information on time.”

CAVB Treasurer Habu Gumel in conjunction with the CAVB Finance Director presented the financial report which was approved by the Board.

CAVB Executive Director Howyda Mondy presented Volleyball activity report and showed the long way of the World Championship qualifiers which included 36 tournaments and featured 39 countries and 330 matches in men’s and Women’s category.

She also evaluated the great participation in both men and women African Club Championships in Tunisia early this year,”

Elwani opens CAVB Board of Administration meeting in Cairo

CAVB President Dr Amr Elwani opened the African Volleyball Confederation “CAVB” Board of Administration meeting in Cairo, Egypt on Thursday with a corium attendance of members and a condensed programme of activities.

Elwani welcomed the attendance and asked them to put all their experiences to help the development of the sport throughout the meeting sessions.

Development Programme and the concluded World Championship Qualifications throughout a record of 36 tournaments come as main items in the Agenda beside the reports of the organized African competition throughout the last year.

The two-day meeting will see also the Board focus on the proposals of the CAVB Commissions, held in 2013 and early 2014, while also evaluating key ways to continue the volleyball and Beach volleyball development.

Dr Elwani opened the meeting by emphasising the important role each of the Board members have. He appreciated the role of each member supervising certain function in CAVB activity.

CAVB Coaches Commission meeting was concluded on Wednesday with a group of proposals to be approved by the nest CAVB Board of Administration next May.

The meeting which was attended by CAVB President Dr Amr Elwani and Commission President Sherif El Shemerly discussed a lot of key ambitious programmes for 2014.

The African coaching instructor comes as one of the most important items, a programme which will prepare 10 new African instructors according to definite criteria prepared by the coaches’ Commission members.

Other important items are the suggested 13 coaches’ courses to be organised in 2014 in the different continental zones, the preparation for the 4th High performance seminar which is the environment to promote the highest level coaching skills.

The commission discussed also the Coaches Aid Programme which was supported by FIVB to assist the coaching of the top national teams in some selected NFs. The programme achieved a huge success in some countries like Rwanda, Mozambique, Burkina Faso and Cape Verde and now the commission will suggest more NFs to support.

Grassroots will be also another item to be implemented in 2014 in an aim to increase the attraction of the young boys and girls to the sport at the youngest age.

Coaches Scholarship is also a new protocol which allows the prominent coach to experience a full live with the top teams in the world to follow up their preparations in their camps.

The honouring of the pioneer coaches is also an important proposal for the commission along with the new technology of preparing courses online through an ambitious system named E- Learning.

The 3 day African Coaching Instructors Seminar is going to start on Thursday with the attendance of the 10 selected coaches.

African Volleyball Confederation “CAVB” coaches’ Commission President Sherif El Shemerly opened the annual meeting in Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday where he pointed out the great importance of the meeting to reshape the future of volleyball in Africa.

CAVB President Dr Amr Elwani who joined the meeting greeted all the attendances and appreciated the role they did to implement the ambitious programmes they proposed last year.

“Experience is getting better and better in African coaching and this is considered a key factor in our development,” Elwani said in his opening speech.

“We have to build up our future. I know you are ambitious to achieve a lot for the sport, but I consider the project of African dream which allow volleyball to be played everywhere in the continent as a big landmark of success. We need the support of national Olympic committees and the local authorities to make these dreams a reality.” He added.

El Shemerly opened the meeting by greeting all the attendance and thanked all of them for the great work they did since the last meeting in January 2013 to implement the decisions approved by CAVB Board. He asked them to have faithful participation in the operations of the commission meeting.

After the approval of the agenda, El Shemerly presented the implemented programmes during 2013 and early months of 2014. He showed the objectives of those events and then he showed throughout a power point presentation the work done to implement the important items of the last year’s Agenda.

CAVB Coaches Commission meets in Cairo for a new era

African Volleyball Confederation “CAVB” will meet in Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday April 9 to discuss the future projects for coaching in the coming years.

The meeting will be attended by CAVB President Dr Amr Elwani, Coaches Commission President Sherif El Shemerly and CAVB Executive Director Howyda Mondy.

Among other important points in the Agenda, the Commission discusses the 4th High Performance Seminar which is the peak annual developmental event dealing with the highest grades of coaches.

The African Instructor will be another project which will put the main criteria for the new coaches’ instructors who can fulfill the increasing demand for the courses in the different continental zones.

Other topics are Coaches Scholarship, Grassroots Courses and Coaches Aid Programme.

The meeting will be followed by a 3 day seminar for coaches’ instructors which will be conducted by the FIVB Coaches Instructor Jivico Jetchev, where the top selected coaches will have the chance to gain the experience to be future instructors.

“We have a condensed ambitious programme for the coming year after we succeeded to implement most of our programme last year,” El Shemerly said.

“In 2014 we are looking forwards to a new era of our coaching activity and start a lot of programmes which will reflect positively for our sport.”
