WOLVES STORM PORTHARCOURT WITH CRACK SQUAD FOR DOLPHINS

Warri Wolves FC fresh from their away victory in the CAF Confederation Cup in Congo stormed PortHarcourt on Wednesday morning with a crack squad for a re-scheduled league match with Dolphin fc which is billed for Thursday at the Liberation Stadium.

Coach Paul Aigbogun dropped two players from the Congo team and added three with a promise to put the Club where they belong in the league which has Giwa FC on top now.

Defender Semiu Liadi who is having a teeth problem was left out while Sikiru Alimi took the place of Onyekachi Okafor with Micheal Okoyoh coming in as the 18th player.

The big news is that Solomon Kwambe who has not kicked a ball for the team will make his debut against Dolphin having been certified fit by the team Doctor, and Goodluck Onamado may have to keep a place on the bench.

The 18 man crack squad include goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi who has successfully wrestled the No 1 position, Tejiri Rhiogbere, Azubuike Egwuekwe, Oke Ogagatewho, Solomon Kwambe, Goodluck Onamado, Ojo Mine and Ichul Lordson.
Others are Ikechukwu Ibenegbu, Micheal Egbeta, Micheal Okoyoh, Bright Akpojuvwewo, Oghenekaro Etebo, Gbolahan Salami, Abu Azeez, Stanley Dimgba, Omoforman Freedom and Sikiru Alimi.

Speaking before the team left Warri, Paul Aigbogun said they will use the match against Dolphin and the home game on Sunday against Nasarawa United as a re-hearsal towards their crucial last match before the group stage against AC Leopards.

Ethiopian Embassy Denies Warri Wolves Players Visa

The Ethiopian Embassy has denied two influential players of Warri Wolves visas on the premise that their passport validity is not up to six months in what is regarded as an attempt to thwart the efforts of the Warri based team from qualifying for the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Those affected are Goalkeeper Okiemute Odah and Onyekachi Okafor and at the same time rejected the passport of the Media Manager whose own is to expire on 22nd on the same pretext that the validity is not up to six months.

In a brief statement made available to the media late Wednesday night by the Media Manager, Tega Iriose, has been called up as a replacement for Okiemute Odah who was in goal in the first leg in Warri which ended 2-0 in favour of Warri Wolves.

The team will also miss the services of Captain Azubuike Egwuekwe who is nursing a slight injury but the team will have the following players available. They are Daniel Akpeyi, Semiu Liadi, Joseph Eyimofe, Goodluck Onamado, Gbolahan Salami, Abu Azeez, Ikechukwu Ibenegbu among others.

CAF Confederation Cup: Wolves Moves Into Closed Camping For Dedebit FC

The Management of Warri Wolves has put the loss to Gabros Football Club in Nnewi at the weekend behind them by moving the players into closed camping ahead the first leg of the CAF Confederation, Second round cracker against highly rated Dedebit FC of Ethiopia.

According to the Media Manager of the Club, Etu Moses, immediately after the loss, the Managing Director, Davison Owumi ordered that the players be moved into a closed camp somewhere very close to Warri to start preparation for the match which comes up on Saturday at the Warri City Stadium.

Owumi warned that any player who fails to obey camp rules would be sanctioned and advised all of them to take the match serious, noting that the team from Ethiopia parades some National team players.

Meanwhile, the likes of SuperSand Eagles, Ibenegbu Ikechukwu and Abu Azeez who missed the Gabros match because of their involvement in South Africa with Beach Soccer team will join the team on Tuesday morning to prepare for the match.

Coach Audu Adamu Ejo and his Beach Soccer National Team, Supersand Eagles’ crew will head to Lagos this weekend as the camp of the team opens ahead of an African Beach Soccer Championship qualifying fixture against Libya, coming up next month.

Ejo, who led the team to a seventh –place finish at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Ravenna, Italy in 2011, has called 20 players for this exercise that will also prepare the team for the Power Horse Invitational Tournament in Durban, South Africa, March 6-8.

From the 20 players, Ejo and his assistants will select 12 players to represent Nigeria at the tournament in Durban, before the first round of the continental championship qualifier against Libya in Lagos on March 14. That match has already been fixed for Elegushi Beach, Lagos, with the return leg in Tripoli six days later.

It is the first time that Nigeria will be involved in qualifiers for the African Beach Soccer Championship, meaning there is growing awareness and interest in beach soccer on the African continent.

The qualifying fixtures also set Madagascar against South Africa, Senegal to play the winner between Mali and Tunisia, Morocco to face the winner between Djibouti and Sudan, Ghana to play the winner between Cameroon and Uganda, Egypt to trade tackles with the winner between Kenya and Tanzania and Cote d’Ivoire up against the winner between Mauritius and Mozambique.

Ejo Calls 20 To Camp For Power Horse, Libya

Head Coach Audu Adamu Ejo has called 20 players to the camp of the Beach Soccer National Team as the two-time African champions come together again for next month’s Power Horse Invitational Tournament in South Africa and the qualifiers for the African Beach Soccer Championship.

Ejo, who led the Supersand Eagles to a credible seventh place at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Ravenna, Italy in 2011, has ordered his charges to report to camp for serious sessions between 23rd February and 4th March.

The eight–nation Power Horse Invitational Tournament takes place in Durban, South Africa 6th – 8th March, while Nigeria hosts Libya on 14th March in the first leg of a qualifying fixture for the African Beach Soccer Championship. The return leg takes place in Libya on 20th March.

The 2015 African Beach Soccer Championship is scheduled for Seychelles between 14th – 19th April.

Among the invitees, who are expected to report at the Beach Soccer Camp in Badagry, Lagos are Bartholomew Ibenegbu (nicknamed Mosquito), Victor Talle and Abu Azeez.

Warri Wolves Off To Burkina Faso For CAF Confedertions Cup First Leg

Warri Wolves Football Club will depart the Oil city for Lagos on Wednesday and further depart for Burkina Faso on Thursday to begin their campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup competition.

In a brief release made available to Sports Writers in Warri by the Media Manager, Etu Moses, the team made up of 18 players and 9 officials will leave Lagos by 15.00 hours.

According to Etu, the team has been in closed camping in Otu-Jeremi, in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State after the Super Six in Abuja where the Coaches led by Paul Aigbogun have been perfecting their strategies for this crucial match.

Etu further revealed that some of the players that will make the trip are Goalkeepers Daniel Akpeyi and Okiemute Odah, Goodluck Onamado, Eyimofe Joseph, Semiu Liadi who joined from Enyimba, Monday Osagie, Oke Ogagotewho and Ibenegbu Ikechukwu.

Others are Micheal Egbeta, Michael Okoyoh, Joseph Osadiaye, Stanley Dimgba, Abu Azeez and Bright Akpojuvwewo.

Also, some of the team’s U-23 players like Ichull Lordson, Austin Amutu, Omoforman Freedom and Achibi Ewenike have been released and may make the team depending on the Coach’s plan.

Etu however disclosed that Oghenekaro Etebo was not released because the National team Coaches sent a word that he is nursing an injury.

Speaking on the match, Coach Paul Aigbogun expressed the confidence that his wards would would do the nation proud and he called on Nigerians to pray for them.

Ejor Names Final Nigerian Squad For Copa Lagos 2014

Head coach of the Nigeria’s beach soccer team, nicknamed Super Sand Eagles, Coach Audu Adamu Ejor has announced his final squad of 10 players for the Copa Lagos 2014.

Coach Ejor picked seven familiar faces and three debutantes for the 4th edition of the Beach soccer competition taking place from Friday December 12-14 at the Eko Atlantic City, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Ejor expressed satisfaction with the performance of the ten players selected, and believes they are capable of doing the country proud at the competition.

The three-time title winning coach said his ambition to win the fourth consecutive Copa Lagos

“I’m satisfied with the ten players – they know themselves and have good understanding of each other. They are excellent players and have proved themselves in training. I’m confident in them, and i believe we can win our fourth title,” Ejor said.

“Our ambition is to win again as we normally do every year to give Nigerians another xmas gift,” he said.

Captain Olawale Isiaka of Dolphins topped the list of 10 that also features record goal scorer Abu Azeez of Warri Wolves and Abia Warriors’ Okemmiri Ogbonnaya.

Others listed are goalkeeper Abdul Isah of Kaduna United, 2011 top scorer Victor Tale of Confluence Beach Soccer team, Babatunde Badmus, Emmanuel Ohweferia – both of Owibeseb FC of Lagos.

The new invitees who will seek their first ever international appearance for the Sand Eagles are Lobi Stars’ Musa Najare, goalkeeper Isah Danladi of Sharks, Atiku Sulaimon Dayo Owibeseb FC of Lagos.

Meanwhile, the Super Sand Eagles on Tuesday morning suffered their first defeat in a 7-6 loss to Enyimba Beach Soccer team that will be participating in the club category of the competition in a warm-up game.

Nigeria will battle Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana in their bid for a fourth straight Copa Lagos Trophy.

Ahead of the 2014 Copa Lagos, head coach of the Super Sand Eagles, Audu Adamu Ejor has said his side is aiming to win this year’s Beach Soccer Championship to present Nigerians another Christmas gift.

The annual four-nation tournament organized by which kicks-off between December 12-14 will feature three other African countries – continent defending champions Senegal, Ghana and Ivory Coast at the Lagos’
Atlantic.

Though expects a tough contest against the African sides, Ejor, said the fans will enjoy another spectacular display this time as they hope to successfully retain the title for the fourth time in a row.

Ejor as popularly called applauded the support of the National Sports Commission and Nigeria Football Federation and believes this edition will be with a difference for the Super Sand Eagles.

“I’m happy that another opportunity is here for us to give Nigerians another Christmas gift.

“I will be tough no doubt because of the other African teams that will be involved in the competition. But as the best in African, we will prove ourselves again as champions.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Beach soccer senior national team has released a provisional list of 18 players for this year’s Copa Lagos.

On the list is legendary captain Olawale Isiaka and all-time record goal scorer Abu Azeez are among other familiar faces for the coveted entertaining beach event.

Sharks’ goalkeeper Isah Danladi and Lobi Stars’ Musa Najare, who replaced Ikechukwu Ibenegbu that will be absent for personal reasons, dominated the team of new invitees.

The Super Sand-Eagles, Wednesday will begin an intensive one-week training activities at the usual base in Badagry with the 18-man team will vie for their places in the final squad list of 10 for the tournament.

Nigeria is the most successful team at the Championship winning in all three editions since inception in 2011, while Abu Azeez holds the record highest goal of 11.
