Six teams – Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Japan and the USA will be competing at the upcoming FINA Water Polo Word League Women’s Intercontinental Tournament 2016 in Lewisville, Texas, USA, from February 16-21.
The tournament will be held at the Westside Aquatic Centre in Lewisville, with the teams playing in a round robin format.
With the European preliminaries underway since October 2015, the three first women’s rounds have been played on October 2, November 24 and December 8.
So far, the Netherlands are leading Group A with 9 points, while Spain tops Group B with 8 points.
Provisional women European ranking:
GROUP A: NED 9 pts (3W), HUN 5 (2W, 1L), ITA 4 pts (1W, 2L), FRA 0 (3L)
GROUP B: ESP 8 pts (3W), RUS 6 pts (2W, 1L), GRE 4 (1W, 2L), GER 0 (3L)
The best four European teams and the best three teams (+ host nation of Super Final) of the Intercontinental tournament will then face each other at the FINA Water Polo World League Super Final in Shanghai (CHN) from June 7-12.
