– Chile midfielder Arturo Vidal has reached a deal with prosecutors and will avoid trial after he crashed his Ferrari while driving under the influence of alcohol. He apologised for insulting a police officer, agreed to pay undisclosed compensation to a driver involved in the crash and to donate sports equipment.

The Juventus player also was ordered to deliver motivational speeches to inmates and was banned from driving for two years.

– Tottenham Hotspur have announced a deal with the NFL that will lead to them hosting fixtures in their new stadium. The Premier League club are due to move into a new home in 2018 and will now host regular-season NFL games on an artificial surface which will be installed under the regular grass pitch used by the premier league side .

– German international Marcell Jansen has retired at the age of 29 after he was released by Hamburg at the end of last season, justifying his decision by admitting: “I can’t just suddenly kiss another badge now.”
