Football Tit Bits:

– Gervinho has denied that extravagant demands of a helicopter and a private beach led to his transfer to Al-Jazira falling through. “I read of helicopters, private beaches and plane tickets. I have no idea where that information comes from, but I have never demanded such things. When I sign a contract I don’t care about those things: everything that has been said about me is false.” Gervinho said

– Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been accused of lying to Wojciech Szczesny about the Gunners signing Petr Cech. Polish goalkeeping legend Jan Tomaszewski claims that Szczesny was given false promises by Wenger about his future at the club. “In January I spoke to [Poland manager] Adam Nawalka and he said that Arsene Wenger had told him that if Szczesny worked hard in training he would play again soon,it turned out that he didn’t tell the truth. I’m sure that when Szczesny said that he was going to stay at Arsenal, he didn’t know that Cech was going to come because Wenger didn’t tell him about his plans. Szczesny should leave, because it will be waste of time for him, if he stays.” Tomaszewski said

– Sepp Blatter has challenged his critics to prove that he is corrupt, and insists that anybody who accuses him of guilt by association to the corruption scandal engulfing world football’s governing body “should go to jail.”

I support the owner’s decision to honour the player in this way.” Mourinho said
