He explained that the get-together was at the instance of the NFF’s President, Mr. Amaju Pinnick, who was unavoidably absent to bid the team’s farewell due to other engagements that would even keep him away from watching the team’s early matches at Niger 2015.

He quoted Mr. Pinnick as saying that the Golden Eaglets must remember that the country is the defending world champions and must, therefore ensure qualification for the next edition of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Chile as well as gun for the trophy.

“The NFF’s President mandated me to hold this reception for you before you travel out to Niger on behalf of the board,” said Sanusi.

“Be reminded that you are going to Niger for business and don’t forget that as the defending champions of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, the main objective is to qualify for the next edition in Chile.

“Nigerians are solidly behind you and on our part as a federation, we have made adequate arrangement for your allowances to be paid; so just go out there and do your best,” he added.
