Tsonga Out of Australian Open

World No. 12 Jo Wilfred Tsonga has confirmed through his personal website on Wednesday that he will miss the first Grand slam of the year. He stated “It is with great disappointment that I have to postpone today the start of my season,pulling out of the Australian Open”.

The French No.1 said he would be undergoing treatments over the next three weeks in order to be fit for the Masters series tournament in Miami and India.

Tsonga made it to the fourth round of the 2014 Australian Open, before losing to Roger Federer in straight sets despite not dropping a set in the first three rounds.

Tsonga’s finest moment as a singles player was recorded at The 2008 Australian Open when he defeated Rafael Nadal in the Semi-Finals before losing out to Novak Djokovic.
