AWC SEMIS: WE ARE READY FOR BAYANA-OKON DECLARES

Super Falcons coach, Edwin Okon, has declared his team’a readiness to face perennial rivals, Bayana Bayana of South Africa at the ongoing Africa Women’s Championship in Namibia.

Speaking after the Falcons watched South Africa maul Algeria 5-1 to setup the semifinal clash, Okon said his side were never worried about who they would face at the knockout stage but were focused on taking it one game at a time.

“We have watched the South Africans play and are ready to face them in the semifinals. We were never worried about who we will face in the semis because my girls are focused and ready. They know the task at hand so we will approach the game with all sense of business” said Okon.

Similarly, team captain, Evelyn Nwabuoko has said that the team was out to avenge the semifinal defeat by South Africa in the last AWC in Equatorial Guinea.

“Our girls are all aware about what happened last we met and we will never allow that to happen when we meet them on Wednesday. We are focused and will go all out for victory” she enthused.

Meanwhile, the team did not train on Saturday as they were given the day off to relax and recover. Training resumes on today in preparation for the semi final clash against South Africa.

The semi final paring is a repeat of 2012 African women Championship where the Falcons lost to a Van Wyk goal in the 23rd minute.
