Latest ATP, WTA Rankings And Tennis Titbits

The last Grand slam of the year(Us Open) has come and gone. Newfanzone takes a look at the latest ATP and WTA rankings(top ten), who dropped points and who gained.

ATP RANKINGS

The biggest winner in this week rankings is obviously the US Open champion Marin Cilic. The 14 seed for the tournament surprised everyone when he defeated Thomas Berdych in the Quarters but we didn’t know that was just the tip of the ice-berg until he dispatched 2nd seed Roger Federer and Surprise opponent in the Final Kei Nishikori. Nishikori, Federer are other players that gained points while Tsonga and Murray had an awful tournament at flushing meadows that made them drop out of the top ten.

WTA RANKINGS
World Number one Serena Williams still retain her number one spot as she went on to win her first Grand slam title for this year and her 18th Grand slam in total. Former world number one Caroline Wozniacki also gained points as she powered her way into the finals before being overpowered by the American. Surprise of the tournament Shua Peng is now world number 21 after a good. Performance in the United states.

*Us Open champion Serena Williams launched her Spring fashion Line at the New york fashion week notably present at the fashion show was losing finalist Caroline Wozniacki.

*Still on Serena williams,she has gone on twitter to declare she is single quoting her from her twitter handle(@serena williams) “To answer all your questions i’m single and i have been single so the speculation can stop”.

*US open runner-up Kei Nishikori despite losing the finals of the Us Open will get $940,000 (50 million yen) from his sponsors Fast Retailing whose President is Tadashi Yanai.
