newfanzone.com
newfanzone.com

After looking at the chances of the top teams in the EPL this season,Newfanzone.com now takes a final look at the teams that will likely struggle this upcoming season due to kick-off 24hrs from now in the last part of our EPL preview.

THE RELEGATION BATTLERS

SOUTHAMPTON

IN: Tadic,Pelle,Betrand(loan),Taider,Forster

OUT: Lambert,Lallana,Chambers,Lovren,Shaw,Do Prado,Forte,Nehemie,Fox,Robinson.

EXPECTATIONS: This summer would be a one to forget for the Saints after losing Key players to the big teams in the EPL. After a breathtaking campaign last season Southampton seems to be in shatters. They would begin their season with a new coach after Mauricio Pochettino resigned to join Tottenham hotspur this summer. New coach Ronald Koeman would need to see how he can quickly get his team ready for the new season. Jay Rodriguez and Morgan Schniederlin(if he stays) would need do more than what they did last season if they want to the Saints to survive relegation. Bottom half of the table would be a respectable finish for them.

POSSIBLE LINEUP– Forster,Clyne,Fonte,Hooiveld,Betrand,Wanyama,Schneiderlin,Ward-Prowse,Ramirez,Pelle,Rodriguez.

LIKELY POSITION: 15th

2014:2015 premier league

ASTON-VILLA

IN: Leggett,J.Cole,Sanderos,Cissokho,Richardson,Nehemie.

OUT: Luna,Albrighton,Scylla,Delfouneso

EXPECTATIONS: Aston Villa has been struggling in recent seasons and its expected they continue with the signings they made. Last season they had a dream start by defeating FA cup champions Arsenal 3-1 but Paul Lambert side still struggled towards the latter stages of the season. Their survival this season would once again rest on the shoulders of their talismanic striker Christian Benteke. If the Belgian is fit expect him to bully his ways past defenders. Ron Vlaar shone like a million star during the World cup so if he stays expect a bit more co-ordination at the back and Joe cole premier league experience might see them survive relegation waters yet again.

POSSIBLE LINEUP– Guzan,Clark,Sanderos,Vlaar,Cissokho,Delph,El Ahmadi, J.Cole, Nzogbia, Benteke, Agbonlahor.

LIKELY POSITION: 16th

QUEENS PARK RANGERS

IN: Ferdinad,Caulker,Mutch

OUT: Granero,Benayoun,Mbia,Young,Hughes,Balanta,Johnson

EXPECTATIONS: It seems QPR has learnt from last two seasons that quality signings are needed and not quantity. Retaining Harry Redknapp means continuity and this might help them survive relegation this season. I feel their Biggest deal would be Remy staying and if he does stay put they would have a striker that guarantees 10+ goals for them this season considering QPR standard. Ferdinad and Caulker in the heart of the defence would sure need to be on their toes every match-day.

POSSIBLE LINEUP: Ceaser,Onuoha,Caulker,Ferdinad,Traore,Barton,Diakite,Isla,Hoilett,Remy,Zamora.

LIKELY POSITION: 17th

SUNDERLAND

IN: Rodwell,Van Aanholt,Jones,Gomes,Pantilimon.

OUT: Dossena,Ustari,Colback,Gardner,Knott,Cuellar.

EXPECTATIONS: I think this is the season Sunderland might drop to the championship. They’ve managed to signed quality players but I think the fairy tale run they always experience at the end of this season might not work for the black cats this season. If sunderland wants to survive this season Rodwell has to start his Sunderland Career on a high and Johnson,Larsson,Altidore needs to be consistent which i doubt.

POSSIBLE LINEUP: Mannone,Vergini,Brown,Oshea,Van Aanholt, Cattermole, Rodwell, Johnson, Larsson, Fletcher, Altidore.

LIKELY POSITION:18th

LEICESTER CITY

IN: Upson,Albrighton,Hamer,Ulloa,Barmby.

OUT: Taft,Fuctas,Taft.

EXPECTATIONS: They ran away with the championship last season and are back in the EPL for the first time in ten years. Only Ulloa has cost them a fee while they’ve signed Upson and Albrighton on a free. They have no stand out player that can inspire them to survive relegation this season.

POSSIBLE LINEUP: Schmiechel, De Laet, Konchesky, Upson, Moore, Hammond, King, Albrighton, Vardy, Ulloa.

LIKELY POSITION: 19th

BURNLEY

IN: Kightly,Sordell,Reid,Gilks,Taylor.

OUT: Edgar,Stanislas,Stock,Treacy,Liversedge.

EXPECTATIONS: They are back in the Premier league after having a stellar season last season. They would surely start the season in a hard way when they welcome Jose Mourinho,s men. Their manager Sean Dyche made them look good in the championship last season it is left to be seen if he would do same in this coming EPL season. They are clear favourites to go back to the championship. A 17th place finish would be a dream campaign for them.

POSSIBLE LINEUP: Heaton, Trippier, Lafferty, Duff, Shackell, Walllace, Taylor, Kightly, Jones, Vokes, Ings.

LIKELY POSITION: 20th

Golden Eaglets Decamp Five

golden eaglets

Five players have been dropped from a list of 35 as Nigeria’s Under-17 national team; Golden Eaglets intensify their preparation towards their forthcoming African Championship qualifier against Gabon in September.

Golden Eaglets remarkably dispatched Congo Democratic Republic on a 5-0 aggregate early this month but Head coach Emmanuel Amuneke said there was no room for complacency in order for the team to achieve its aspiration of qualifying for the 2015 African U-17 Championship to be held in Niger.

“The party is over and it is about time we forget about what we had done recently,” Amuneke told the players. “But it is unfortunate that some have not really measured up to the standard we expected.

“We must now focus our attention squarely on Gabon because it would be their desire to qualify for the Under-17 Championship in Niger,” he said.

The five who were given the marching order according to the coaching crew, have significantly dropped in form and have contributed little to the fortune of the team in recent time.

Included on the list were:

Ebije Yahaya,

Prince Omosowhofa,

Chinedu Madueke,

Kingsley Ohiri

and Kabiru Muhammed

Incidentally all midfielders-and have since left the team’s camp in Calabar.

“We have reasonably pruned down the list based on the need of the team according to their performance in comparison to others,” explained Emeka Amadi, Goalkeepers’ trainer, adding that the coaching crew has a pool of players to be called upon when need arises.

“The good thing is that we are in a process of raising a team that can defend the World Cup won in 2013 and we would continue to shuffle the team from time to time since we have about 45 players registered with Confederation of African Football (CAF),”noted Amadi.

IOC, NANJING YOG LOC RELEASE STATEMENT ON EBOLA CRISIS

2014 YOUTH OLYMPIC
2014 YOUTH OLYMPIC

Joint Communique from the International Olympic Committee and the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games Organizing Committee

Our thoughts are firstly with those who have been touched by the outbreak of Ebola in West Africa and the suffering of those affected and their families.

With regard to ensuring the safety of all those participating in the Youth Olympic Games and the people of the city of Nanjing we have been working closely with the Chinese health authorities and under the guidance of the World Health Organization (WHO). We have been reassured by the health authorities that there have been no suspected cases and that the risk of infection is extremely unlikely.

Together we have developed a policy which balances the health needs of all, with respect for the rights of the young athletes from the region:

The organizing committee has made it clear that all delegations are welcome to the Games and each country is free to take their own decision on attendance.

Those from the region will be subject to regular temperature and physical assessment throughout the period.

Based on health authority guidelines it has been decided that athletes from affected areas will not compete in combat sports. (2 athletes)

Additionally, based on the inability to completely exclude the risk of potential infection it was also decided that no athletes from the region would compete in the pool.(1 athlete)

In accordance with WHO guidelines the Chinese authorities are fully prepared should any outbreak occur.
We regret that due to this issue some young athletes may have suffered twice, both from the anguish caused by the outbreak in their home countries and by not being able to compete in the Youth Olympic Games.

ioc

The IOC and Organizing Committee will therefore offer to each of the National Olympic Committees affected, if they wish, that their national flag will be brought into the stadium at the opening ceremony and will be hoisted at the venues.

The athletes who have not been able to participate will also receive in the near future an invitation from the IOC and the organizing committee to come to Nanjing to take part in a sporting competition and to experience the welcoming atmosphere and spirit of the city and Jiangsu province.
